Scope of the Report
The Sustainability Report for this year has been drawn up as per the guidelines recommended by Global Reporting Initiative G3. This Report features our Sustainability initiatives, our social, environmental and economic impact, and the challenges we face in addressing sustainability considerations in different business processes. This is a journey driven by Collective Actions, where each member of Dr. Reddy’s family has made significant contribution.
This Report is a voluntary information-sharing exercise; for the benefit of all our stakeholders, both within and outside the Company. It is intended to enhance their awareness and express our commitment to society at large, by highlighting programs and actions that have been implemented in order to build Dr. Reddy’s into a truly sustainable organization.
Stakeholder Inclusiveness
We regularly engage with key stakeholders such as customers, partners, vendors, retailers and wholesalers in the course of our business. We rely on existing channels to exchange feedback about matters related to Sustainability. We have presented n this report, perspectives and suggestions from employees, gathered across two levels—interview of function heads belonging to senior management and focus groups with a cross-section of employees in three locations.
Materiality
The content of this report is based on a materiality analysis focusing on two key factors—the impact to stakeholders and the impact on the business. The analysis identified six key areas on which we are focusing our Sustainability efforts. The report seeks to provide a comprehensive explanation for each area:
Providing Affordable and Innovative Medicines provides an overall view of our various businesses, and our strategies to bring affordable, innovative medicines to people around the world.
Product Responsibility presents the processes we have put in place to ensure the regulation of product quality and safety systems.
Being an Employer of Choice includes our approach to Human Rights, Labour Standards, our attempts towards being an equal opportunity employer and initiatives towards the safety & welfare of our employees. We also present key initiatives such as Talent management and Leadership development which enable us to be an employer of choice.
Environmental Management and Climate Change captures our performance on resource usage, use of Green Chemistry principles and other environment friendly initiatives. The findings from energy audits and greenhouse gas accounting and our actions plans to tackle climate change are also detailed.
Sustainable Sourcing reports on the initiatives taken to introduce sustainability considerations in the supply chain with particular focus on strategic business partners.
Caring for Communities covers our social investments, our programs for social change and community development. We have included few examples of community engagement in locations other than India.
Report Boundary
The metrics and figures reported are limited to the six units of Chemical Technical Operations that manufacture Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients, six manufacturing units of Finished Dosages, a unit of Biologics and two research labs, all based in India and the marketing of Finished Dosages in India. The figures mentioned, unless otherwise specified, pertain to our Indian operations only.
