betapharm Arzneimittel GmbH was founded in Augsburg in 1993. The pharmaceutical company distributes reliably high-quality generics (unpatented medicines) at affordable prices and is one of the leading generic companies in Germany. Since 2006 betapharm is subsidiary of the international pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, headquartered in Hyderabad, India.

The product range includes more than 150 active pharmaceutical ingredients in more than 900 SKU and covers all major indications of the common cold to serious cardiovascular diseases. Concerning Rx drugs, the focus is on the areas of cardiovascular, neurology and pain / palliative.

Relating the OTC products the treatment of pain is also in the focus of betapharm. Until 2008 through its nationwide sales force, the Company sells a broad and diversified range of generic pharmaceutical products, primarily solid dose, under the "beta" brand. betapharm's strong corporate image in conjunction with its differentiated positioning and excellent relationships with customer groups has facilitated rapid growth. Since 2009 betapharm adjusted the organizational structure by reducing sales force and focusing on the new "player", the SHI; the German marked transformed from a prescription/ dispensing market to a tender driven market. betapharm is a strong player in this new market dynamics!

Since January 2011 betapharm has established "target" oriented sales force in the areas of Gynecology, Neurology and Pain – the key focus is to concentrate on "business" outside the "tender regime". The "beta Institut" will maintain to support the brand image of beta in the non-tender segments.
