Dr. Reddy's started out as a brave new idea among few scientists who wanted to pioneer affordable drug manufacture and discovery in the private sector in India, 26 years ago. Today we are a multi-national, innovation-led pharma company peopled by more than 14,900 associates from over 23 nationalities.
The term 'our teams' perhaps fails to represent the rich character and conviction our people bring into the company. We confess that our size does not do justice to the range and depth of capabilities our people have. No doubt we are doing well, but as a collective we are gearing to exceed our own imaginations and expectations so we can emerge as a true global leader in this fast-paced and most watched sector.
There are three key spaces in the realm of our people management that give us the edge.
Recruitment and career growth at the company is transparent and driven by considerations of merit and potential, and nothing else. It levels the playing field and leaves no space for arbitrariness and unfair transactions.
The performances of our differently abled team members, of professionals from unusual sectors —as non-pharma as it gets—and of youth from underprivileged backgrounds have opened our eyes to the tremendous intellectual and execution capabilities that lie unexplored when we limit our search for talent within conventional silos.
We have begun to have more presence at campuses, we have announced higher rewards for team members on successful referrals of women or differently abled professionals to the organisation and we continue to encourage employees to shift within the organisation to different domains and functions through internal job posting opportunities.
A growing number of women join our ranks at all levels. Our businesses and functions have learnt and improved immensely from their participation. We have also realised that for women to be able to contribute without barriers, there has to be a far more enabling environment than traditional businesses have offered so far.
Professional women’s forums, a positive female to male pay ratio, the best in industry flexi-hours and maternity benefits and a significant increase in hiring from campuses, where almost one-third of all hires are women, are just some of the steps we have taken to build a truly an inclusive and energised organization.
