When no other Indian company had felt it possible to undertake research for drug discovery, we ventured out with a twinkle in the eye and made significant investments. We had no precedents in this country. I put together a team of brilliant scientists from various disciplines of life sciences and started Dr. Reddy’s Research Foundation.

Dr. Reddy's Research Foundation established

Dr. Reddy’s and Cheminor Drugs jointly establish the Dr. Reddy’s Research Foundation (DRF). Dr. Reddy’s becomes the first company to start work on drug discovery programs in the country. DRF is recognized as a scientific and industrial research organization by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

European markets get a focussed thrust with the launch of
Reddy - Cheminor SA at Paris.

Domperidone, an anti-emetic drug is launched
