First formulation exports to Russia commence

First formulation exports to Russia commence and operations start with a field force of five in the city of Moscow.

22nd April 1991 sees the launch of Omez, Dr. Reddy’s brand of Omeprazole which goes on to become Dr. Reddy’s first Rs 100 crore brand. Across India, Omez heralds the birth of a new class of compounds in the treatment of acid-peptic disorders and revolutionizes the treatment of acid-peptic disorders. Omez is the first brand of omeprazole to enter the Indian market. Today, it is the top brand of omeprazole in 11 countries.

Commercial production at the Pydibheemavaram API plant commences on 28th December 1991.
